Detail information
Krgović Winery is a family-owned winery located in the village of Rogami, about 4 kilometers north of Podgorica’s center, at an altitude of 45 meters. Founded in 2009, the winery spans near the archaeological site of Doclea and at the confluence of the Morača and Zeta rivers.
The winery’s story begins as a hobby of founder Ljubiša Krgović, who planted a small vineyard with two thousand Vranac vines in the early 2000s. Over time, his passion for winemaking grew, leading to commercial production in 2009. Today, Krgović Winery’s vineyards cover 8.5 hectares across three different locations around Podgorica, each with its unique microclimate: Rogami, Gornji Crnci and Beri.
This diversity allows for the cultivation of various grape varieties, including Vranac, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Moscato Bianco, Pinot Gris, Viognier, and Sauvignon Blanc.
Currently, the production program is managed by Bojan Krgović, the founder’s son, who received professional education in viticulture and enology in France and Germany.
The winery produces wines under the “Arhonto” brand, which has deep historical significance. The name “Arhonto” comes from the title “Archon,” once held by the rulers of Doclea. The winery’s logo is inspired by the seal of Archon Petar, the most famous ruler of Doclea, establishing a strong connection between the wine and the rich history of this area.
Krgović Winery stands out for its commitment to creating authentic, high-quality Montenegrin wines, combining tradition with innovation.
