Detail information

Dračevica is a boutique winery born out of a shared desire within the Lukić family to give clear form and visibility to their longstanding winemaking hobby. By doing so, they fulfill a personal passion for meaningful work while offering the market wines crafted with knowledge, love, and dedication—wines of unpretentious character and a personal signature.

Although named after the family’s ancestral village on the shores of Lake Skadar, Dračevica is a story that begins in the present and looks to the future, with the goal of revitalizing the village it was named after. In this way, Dračevica completes a full circle—simultaneously returning to its roots and moving forward—guided by the most faithful witness to many beautiful stories: wine.

The family’s first vineyard was planted in 1990, and today it spans about a quarter of a hectare in the sunlit fields of Zeta. The vineyard is home to three indigenous grape varieties that reflect the local terroir and heritage: Vranac, Crna Tamjanika, and Muskat Krokan.

Each variety tells its own story and expresses its own character, and our wines Bodin, Obolon, and Kosara are the result of our deep love for viticulture and tradition, and of our desire to offer something truly unique, authentic, and heartfelt.

Wines of Dračevica winery

Dračevica Winery offers a carefully curated selection of wines made from indigenous Montenegrin grape varieties, cultivated in the sunlit vineyards of the Zeta plain. Each wine reflects the family’s commitment to authenticity and craftsmanship.

  • Bodin – A full-bodied red wine from Vranac, showcasing deep color, robust tannins, and complex flavors of dark berries, spice, and subtle earthiness.
  • Obolon – An elegant red wine made from Crna Tamjanika, notable for its expressive floral aromas, rich fruit character, and smooth, balanced palate.

Distillates of Dračevica Winery

In addition to wine production, Dračevica Winery distills traditional Montenegrin grape brandy:

  • Kosara – A premium Lozova rakija (grape brandy) crafted through time-honored methods, offering a smooth, aromatic spirit that embodies the essence of the region’s viticultural heritage.

Terroir and Vineyard Philosophy

The Zeta Plain (Zetska ravnica), renowned for its fertile soil and ideal combination of Mediterranean climate and mild continental influence, offers optimal conditions for cultivating indigenous grape varieties.

The uniqueness of this terroir lies in its rich soil composition, a blend of red earth (crvenica) and loam enriched with minerals and naturally well-drained. This allows the vines to develop deep roots and express a full spectrum of aromas.

Abundant sunlight ensures grapes reach optimal ripeness and sweetness, while gentle breezes from nearby Lake Skadar promote vine health by balancing humidity and reducing the risk of disease.

Dračevica Winery tends its vineyards with great respect for nature and tradition, guided by the rhythm of the seasons and the distinct characteristics of the Zeta terroir. Hand pruning, controlled green harvesting, and carefully selected harvest dates enable the winery to capture the finest qualities of the grapes—intense aromas, natural freshness, and complexity of flavor.

Minimal intervention is applied both in the vineyard and in the cellar, with a strong focus on preserving the authenticity of each grape variety. The natural balance of soil and microclimate in Zeta inspires the use of sustainable viticultural practices, ensuring the health of the vines and consistent grape quality year after year.
