Detail information
Zavjet winery, located in the village of Gluhi Do near Virpazar, in the Crmnica region. The winery was founded as a tribute to history and a deep love for the grapevine. With over 2,300 hours of sunshine per year and mineral-rich soil, the area provides ideal conditions for cultivating Kratošija and Vranac grape varieties.
The winery’s founder, a passionate admirer of Montenegrin culture and history, chose to revive the former royal vineyards above the Bistrica River, symbolically building a “new bridge” between tradition and modern viticulture.
Today, winery Zavjet combines experience, modern technology, and unspoiled nature to produce wines that speak for themselves. The grape types that are grown at the Zavjet vineyards are Kratošija and Vranac.

Interesting facts about Zavjet winery
Zavjet winery carries strong symbolism and is deeply connected to the history and nature of the Crmnica region. Every detail reflects a fusion of tradition and a modern approach to winemaking.
Wine as a vow
The winery’s name recalls the times when Montenegrin rulers donated “willed” vineyards to the church. Here, wine is viewed as heritage – not just a beverage. This is how the idea and mission for the name “Zavjet” (Will) was born. Under the will of Ivan Crnojevic of 1484, the vineyards near the Crnojevic’s River were given to the Montenegrin monastery
The natural value of wine
Crmnica wine has long been known for its rich composition. At Zavjet winery, this tradition is honoured through wines that preserve the character of the soil and the nature they come from.
A bridge between eras
The new bridge built over the Bistrica River symbolically connects the past and the present. It represents the winery’s mission to preserve tradition and carry it into the modern age.
Wine as a treatment
“Zavjet” wine is recommended just as the famous Montenegrin healers Ilichkovichs used to recommend Crmnica wine to those who had problems with digestion, nervous, urinary, and cardiovascular systems.
The healing properties of Crmnica wine were studied, and it was found that the soil type influences its composition and that wine from a particular vineyard is more efficient for a certain type of disease than grapes grown on other soils. Therefore, Crmnica wine used to be prescribed like a “medicine”.
Contemporary medicine confirms this experience. Wine is known to contain various minerals, phosphorus, iron, potassium, calcium, glycerol, and sulfur, depending on the soil. The Ilichkovichs could not conduct such analyses. Based on the experience that was passed on from generation to generation, they were making conclusions on which wine from which soil to recommend for a particular disease.
